Privacy Policy

1. Overview

RandAddress ("we", "our", or "the Service") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, which third-party services we rely on, and the rights you have over your data. It applies to all visitors of https://www.randaddress.com.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

RandAddress does not require user registration and does not ask for your real name, physical address, phone number, or email address.

The data generated by the address, phone, and profile generators is produced entirely in your browser. We do not transmit those generated values to our servers, and we do not store them in any database.

Addresses you choose to "save" using the on-page Save button are kept only in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device.

3. Information We Collect Automatically

We collect anonymized, aggregate usage data to understand which features are used and to improve the site. This data does not personally identify you. It includes:

Pages viewed and links clicked.

Browser type, device type, and operating system.

Approximate country and language (derived from your IP address by Cloudflare and your browser settings — we do not store the IP address itself).

Referring website (the page you came from, if any).

Anonymized session identifiers used to count unique visits.

For the IP Checker tool specifically, the IP address you submit is sent to third-party threat-intelligence APIs to produce the risk report. We do not retain submitted IP addresses after the report is rendered.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. We use a small number of cookies and similar storage technologies (localStorage). Cookies fall into three categories:

Strictly necessary — required for the site to function. These include your language preference (randaddress_lang) and any addresses you choose to save (kept only in localStorage). These do not require consent under GDPR.

Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*, _gid, _gat) and PostHog (ph_*, ph_distinct_id) measure aggregate site usage. These load on every page; their use is disclosed in this Privacy Policy.

Advertising — Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies such as __gads, IDE, and NID for ad personalization and frequency capping. In the EU/EEA/UK/Switzerland these are governed by Google's Funding Choices consent banner, which appears the first time you visit and lets you accept, refuse, or manage ad cookies.

You can change your AdSense consent choice at any time via Google's consent preferences icon (typically a small floating button) or by visiting https://adssettings.google.com/. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings — but doing so may degrade some site features.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third parties to operate the site. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles data it receives.

Cloudflare (CDN, DDoS protection, /cdn-cgi/trace geo detection) — https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

Google Analytics 4 (anonymized site analytics) — https://policies.google.com/privacy

PostHog (anonymized product analytics, US-hosted) — https://posthog.com/privacy

Google AdSense (display advertising, when enabled) — https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

Threat-intelligence providers used by the IP Checker (Spamhaus, AbuseIPDB, Blocklist.de, others) — each provider's own privacy practices apply to requests routed through their public APIs.

6. Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure

RandAddress is funded by display advertising and a small number of affiliate partnerships.

Display ads (when enabled): we use Google AdSense. AdSense partners may use cookies to show you ads based on your prior visits to RandAddress or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising via https://www.google.com/settings/ads.

Affiliate links: when we include partner links, we may earn a commission when you make a qualifying purchase. Affiliate links are tagged with rel="sponsored nofollow" and shown with a visible "Ad" or "Sponsored" label, and earning a commission costs you nothing extra.

7. Data Retention and Security

We do not retain the data you generate. Our analytics providers retain anonymized session data for the periods stated in their respective privacy policies (Google Analytics: typically 14 months by default; PostHog: 7 years for usage analytics unless deleted).

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the site, including HTTPS-only transport, modern TLS, and Cloudflare's edge protection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding personal data we may hold about you:

Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold.

Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.

Right to erasure — ask us to delete the data we hold.

Right to object — opt out of advertising via Google's consent banner that appears on your first visit, or via https://adssettings.google.com/. Opt out of analytics by blocking analytics cookies (_ga*, ph_*) in your browser settings or via a browser extension such as Privacy Badger.

Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Right to withdraw consent — at any time, with effect for the future.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@randaddress.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. International Transfers

Some of our third-party services (Google, PostHog) process data in the United States. They participate in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission as the legal basis for these transfers.

10. Children's Privacy

RandAddress is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date below reflects when it was most recently revised. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days before they take effect.

12. Contact

For privacy questions, requests to exercise your rights, or any other concerns, email us at contact@randaddress.com. We aim to respond to all legitimate requests within 5 business days.
