Yes for general retail. New Hampshire is one of the five U.S. states with no general sales tax — so clothing, electronics, groceries, and household goods are tax-free at the register. The carve-outs: a Meals and Rooms (Rentals) Tax of 8.5% on prepared food, hotel stays, and car rentals; and a small interest-and-dividends tax that is being phased out by 2027. Rockingham / Seacoast uses 030xx–038xx (Portsmouth 03801–03802, Salem 03079, Derry 03038). Strafford County (Dover 03820, Rochester 03867) sits in 038xx. Merrimack County — containing Concord, the state capital — uses 033xx (03301–03305). Western NH: 034xx (Keene 03431), 037xx (Lebanon 03766).
