A quick guide

Make a WhatsApp chat screenshot from your own script

This free fake WhatsApp chat generator turns a conversation you write into a downloadable image. Use it for a meme, a fictional chat story, or a product demo. Edit both sides of the exchange in the tool above; you do not need a WhatsApp account or a second phone.

How to create and download your chat

  1. Set the contact

Change the name and status, then upload an avatar if you want one. The status is text you control, such as “online” or a fictional last-seen time.

  2. Write both sides

Choose Received or Sent, enter a message and its time, then select Add text. Use Photo in the same input area for an image message. Open an existing message to edit it, or use its arrows to change the order.

  3. Check the details

Set the ticks on sent messages. Under Phone status bar, adjust the clock, signal and battery. Under Appearance, choose the wallpaper and whether to show the composer.

  4. Download the PNG

Review the preview, then select Download PNG. The output is 1206 × 2622 pixels, with no watermark. Keep the exchange within the visible chat area; long conversations are not exported as an unlimited scrolling image.

Choose the right details for your story

Sent, delivered or read?

The Ticks control has three visual states: Sent shows one gray tick, Delivered shows two gray ticks, and Read shows two blue ticks. These are settings for your mockup; they do not report real message activity.

Keep the screenshot readable

Use short messages and a clear ending. Keep timestamps in sequence, leave room around photo messages, and check the downloaded image before placing it in a slide or video. Emoji appearance can vary with your device’s fonts.

Before you export

Is it free, and do I need to sign up?

Editing and PNG downloads are free. No account, app installation or watermark removal purchase is required.

Are my messages and photos uploaded?

The editor processes your message text, avatar and chat photos in your browser. It does not upload them to generate the image. These editing areas are excluded from interaction recording. See our privacy policy for site-wide analytics details.

Which image formats can I use?

Use PNG, JPG or WebP. Contact avatars can be up to 5 MB; chat photos can be up to 10 MB. Add a photo from the message input’s Photo button, choosing Sent or Received first.

Can I save the chat and edit it later?

The PNG saves the finished image, not an editable project. Edits are held in the current page and are not saved across reloads. Download your result before refreshing or leaving.

Does it send messages or export video?

No. It creates a still PNG from your script and does not connect to WhatsApp, send messages, or import real conversations. You can place the PNG in a video editor, but this tool does not generate animated chat videos.

What if the PNG download fails?

Wait for attached images to finish loading and try again. If the problem continues, use an up-to-date Chrome or Firefox browser. For a crowded conversation, shorten the exchange or split your script into separate images.
